blogging 101

I know it's important to add new posts to a blog often so that, just in case anyone happens to stumble across this page and find it the least bit interesting, they will want to return and see what else I have to say. I know this and I'm already failing miserably. But it can be hard to continually think of new things to write about.

"continually." ::: rolling my eyes ::: This is only my second post. That's pitiful.

Ok...here's something. I registered to run a 5K on Saturday. My first ever. I've been doing a run/walk thing for months now. I'm not sure why my endurance never improves. It's not because I'm old & out of shape, because I've been this way since high school. Try as I might (and I have tried diligently at different times throughout my life) I've never been able to run a mile. I think I must have half a lung. But even though I will definitely be walking part of the way, I can go 3 miles. I won't necessarily go fast, but it's not going to be an issue making it to the finish line. So, because I've been wanting to do this forever, I figured there is just no time like the present.

Then, after I paid my money and got my packet (my first-ever t-shirt and race number), I got online and looked at the race results from last year and found out that I am going to fall solidly in the Embarrassingly Slow category. I'm going to be bringing up the rear. There won't be any water left by the time I get to the watering stations. The Finish Line will be packed up and carted away by the time I get to where it used to be. Last year, a 75 yr. old woman ran the race a full 10 minutes faster than I can now. I'm regretting having signed up. I'm going to be humiliated. This isn't feeling very "graceful."
