We work in the dark...
I watched a new show on Lifetime last night called "State of Mind." It was actually very good! My friend and I always made fun of Lifetime programs...the channel for women that always seemed to air programs where women were abused, raped, murdered, and/or kidnapped. It was always so predictable and I would never stoop to watching anything on that channel. Those just aren't topics that I find entertaining. So, it's with slight embarrassment that I admit to tuning into the new series they're showing now. It's nice to see them break from the stereotypical crap they normally show.
Tonight's episode of "State of Mind" ended with a puppet quoting from Henry James (it was the most touching speech I've ever heard come from a puppet): "We work in the dark, We do what we can, We give what we have." This struck a cord with me. Just last week, I told a friend that I often feel like I'm stumbling around in the dark. It's not a good feeling. I'm always afraid that I'm really going to fall, or bump into something excruciatingly painful. But, I'm thinking that, if there's a quote about it, I must not be the only one that feels that way. So, I'll just do what I can and give what I have. Sounds like a good solution.
